Year 11 Quiz Shows Mock Exam
You are expected to prepare your answers in advance of the exam. You will have 1 ½ hours to complete the two tasks below.
At Denham Productions, we are launching a new TV channel based on our wealth of past programming. Last summer you put forward your ideas about what makes a successful quiz show and you gave us your proposal for a new quiz show aimed at 14-20 year olds. We want to think more closely about what this will look like on screen. Remember that the new quiz show should reflect our core values of respecting all members of society and providing good quality programming. This is your chance to develop the central programme in our new channel’s line up!
Task 1
For either the idea you outlined in the previous exam (year 10 mock) or a new idea, draw the storyboard for a key sequence and write suitable notes for each shot. Your storyboard should demonstrate your ideas about:
- camera shots, movement and position
- sound
- mise-en-scene
- editing
- titles / special effects (where appropriate)
Task 2
Evaluate your storyboard, explaining how your sequence would appeal to its audience. You should compare your idea to successful quiz shows which have influenced you.
